212 | no one came to dinner

Well I imagine the reason that no one came to dinner was the fact that it rained because the tables in the restaurant were packed. I like to photograph chairs and bikes because they are linked so closely to the human form. It is a space or on an object where a person has sat or will sit and I think this gives these objects a certain feel or energy. When I look at this shot I have a setting for a story or I am reminded of an intimate dinner and because there are no actual people in the shot my imagination has more space to work within.
I am busy with a major back up and archiving project this weekend and I think it is important to spend time learning how to get back up and workflow right as well as taking the photos. I now have so many photos I feel like I am losing control of the collection and this is something that keeps on bugging me, so much so that I have decided to fix it and my mind is free of this distraction. I have an online back up and external hard drives but they are disorganised and the worry is that do they really cover everything, have I missed something? I am currently in the process of verifying and cross checking 6 years worth of folders - not photo by photo but comparing bits per folder and targeting folders which don't match. I realise that I can not be 100% sure - but the next stage will be to create a smaller master archive with my best work that I will verify more stringently and back up with more care. As for the rest I will at least know that I did my best for those photos and I am not actually deleting anything without comparing actual files. It is a huge task but I already feel much happier for having started it.
