210 | hand in hand

Tonight I decided that I needed to explore a different neighbourhood. It is not the first time that I have shot in this area of town, but it has been a while since I was last here for some serious photography and I scouted out plenty of new shooting opportunities. It was overcast so I was expecting to end up with noisy images that I would end up converting to black and white although I did not have the low contrast processing in mind - that occurred to me later.

This one was a fleeting moment which I got one shot at. If I had moved to get a clear shot, I would have missed the shot altogether. Couples here typically hold hands when cycling, unless of course they are takling on the phone, texting, holding an umbrella or balancing some unwieldy object on their bike.

I had plenty of time so I decided to take a detour on the way home and take in another neighbourhood, just to get a feel for its night time potential. I had a very specific spot in mind, one that I know well from day time shooting. As I turned a corner to the bridge where I was headed, I was followed by a police car, then I noticed police and cars stopped the other side of the bridge and suddenly it did not feel like the right moment to be setting up for a photo shoot. Instead I quickly turned and headed off away from the bridge. I passed yet more police stationed at the next bridge. I have no idea what happened but there were way too many police for it to be a traffic incident but I am glad that I followed my instincts.

It's really good that you followed your instinct and just left when you did. Sometimes women don't listen to their gut and that could lead to trouble. However, you shot is very cute and touching. Nice job.

It's always good to visit different places. I tend to get stuck sometimes. These two are cute.
