The lesson tonight was about organisation and always having your gear ready. It was late and rain was forecast. I wanted to do a long exposure in between showers. I decided where and when I was going to shoot with some help from a new iPad app called Light Trac which shows how the moon/ sun will line up with a Google map. I guessed that it would probably be too cloudy to get another shot of a moonlit canal but then again I could have been lucky with a break in the clouds.

Camera? Check. CF card empty? Check. Battery full? Check. Tripod? Check. Tripod camera mount? Check. Remote Switch? Huh? Spent time looking in vain for it and in the end decided that I needed to leave and I would just have to make do with the timer mode.

In the end the cloud cover remained unbroken and rain showers made me reluctant to set up the tripod.

Fortunately there is no shortage of bikes to photograph around here.

I decided to keep this in colour, this is the street light not a sepia tone because the dried grass called for it. It has been a catch up day today and I had barely finished with my backlog of posts when it began to get dark. Its also raining, so I just went out for a quick walk.

This is a fairly drastic crop in order to reveal the shot I saw while out walking. I really should have moved in closer.

It was a full moon tonight although the sky was a little cloudy. I spend a while waiting for the moon to line up with Brouwersgracht and started shooting. The timing of this little boat was just perfect and this shot is by far my favourite from the past few days which were more about spending time with friends than photography.

I also spent today clearing a backlog of a weeks photos, delayed by nights out and the off-putting thought of dealing with Aperture. At least the addition of the Nik Define plugin helps with the noise but so far I have just used the default setting for my camera profiles. I have a few days off, so maybe I will explore the plugin settings in more detail and give Aperture a few more days.

Tonight I have no energy for photo walking so I thought I would take another look out side my window. So there you have it my neighbours window box.

Another night out and this one went really late, no - I will never learn. So this is very much a grab shot. I can't say that I am too thrilled with it but at least it fills a slot in the project. I did try my hand at taking some photographs of people dancing earlier in the evening but when I saw them up close on the computer I was not happy with them.
